It's Official

The Air Force officer accession board convened for over one month and released their results today. I'm proud to say that I was one of few chosen to become a future Air Force officer. Here is an excerpt and a link from the official release of results:

"6/1/2009 - RANDOLPH AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- EMBARGOED UNTIL 0730 ON JUNE 1, 2009

A total of 200 men and women from across America have earned an opportunity to become Air Force leaders following their selection for an officer's commission, officials here announced today.

Air Force Recruiting Service officials considered 798 applications as part of Officer Training School Selection Board 09OT03, which selected 200 for a 25-percent selection rate. Sixty-seven of the 200 candidates were selected for more than one rated program and will be classified in their first job choice of pilot, combat systems officer or air battle manager. Of the 200 selected, 35 enlisted members earned the chance to attend OTS and trade their stripes for gold bars as second lieutenants.

As part of the selection process, board members review both objective and subjective factors. Objectively, the board considers each applicant's academic discipline, grade point average and Air Force Officer Qualifying Test scores. Subjectively, board members evaluate work experience, accomplishments, adaptability, character, leadership ability, potential for future growth and other recommendations. For active-duty enlisted members, performance reports and commanders' recommendations are also evaluated."
